The Conte Method

Antonio Conte is a diet obsessive who will subject his Chelseaplayers to hour-long video sessions and is prepared to humiliate star players in front of the rest of the squad.
In a fascinating study, entitled Metodo Conte (The Conte Method) - not yet published in English - respected Italian journalist Alessandro Alciato discusses a number of Conte’s coaching secrets, which will surely interest the squad following confirmation on Monday that the 46-year-old will join Chelsea this summer.
Alciato reveals how:
Legendary Juventus and Italy captain Gianluigi Buffon was given a rollicking in front of the other players for daring to mention bonuses they were owed.
Franco Vazquez, briefly a member of the Italy squad during the 2014-15 campaign, was stunned at the level of detail in Conte’s video briefings.
When the players wandered into the breakfast room at Italy’s Coverciano training base near Florence, they found separate tables for individual food groups, with typed notes from Conte on the walls above each — the kind of diligence they had rarely experienced even in the ultra-tactical world of Serie A.
When he took over as Italy boss, Conte gathered the regular reporters covering the Azzurri to hear his plans for how the team would play under his direction - an unprecedented step.
